Teenage Lesbian: Part 2

Sam's slouched against the lockers, headphones in, when Teresa struts up and tells her to move. Sam shifts over, clocking Teresa's face for the first time, and damn if her stomach doesn't flip. She just stares. A couple weeks later it's Christmas. Sam's dad hands her a gift from grandma—a ridiculous poofy prom dress. She wants to puke. Later she's in the car with JC, jawing about New Year's. He takes a dig at Nicole. Sam defends her, but she can feel the jealousy coming off him. New Year's Eve arrives. In Nicole's bedroom the girls laugh, shove each other, and Nicole plants a quick kiss on Sam's cheek. Sam leans in for the real thing. Nicole shoves her back, screams "disgusting lesbian," and kicks her out. Sam leaves broken. She journals about it later, swearing she's done with Nicole, but she still catches herself watching Teresa at school. Flyers go up for a rave. JC drags her. The place is dark, bodies everywhere. Alina Lopez slides up thinking Sam's a guy and starts grinding. Sam plays along because, hell, it's her first kiss. Back room comes quick. Alina strips, Sam's on her knees eating her out, but the truth's coming. Alina reaches inside Sam's jeans, feels nothing. The panic hits. Then Kenna James walks in, shuts it down, and tells Alina to fuck off. She clocks Sam right away. Says her name is Meg. Calm, warm, zero bullshit. Tells Sam to quit chasing straight girls and promises she's not as alone as she thinks.
