Gracie Jane steps inside with the blazer still hanging off her shoulders. She drops her clutch on the table, catches sight of the coat, and her face screws up like she just bit a lemon. “Shit,” she mutters. Last night she’d been waiting for a rideshare when some stranger shrugged his jacket over her bare arms. Sweet move. Totally forgot she was still wearing it when she climbed into her car. “Now what the hell do I do? A total gentleman and I repaid him by stealing his blazer.” She starts digging through the pockets, looking for a name, a card, anything. A couple of business cards tumble out and she breathes easier. One call later, Dillon Diaz is knocking at her door. She hands the blazer over, cheeks hot. “Sorry I basically robbed you.” Dillon grins, all smooth and easy. “Don’t be. Looks better on you anyway.” Gracie laughs, tension melting. He admits he’d been kicking himself for not asking her number outside the gala, says the lost jacket turned out to be his lucky break. She tilts her head, flattered, then steps in closer. “Maybe it was fate,” she says, voice low. “Want to stay and see where it goes?” Dillon’s smile widens. “I’d love that.” Gracie peels the blazer off her shoulders, lets it drop, then reaches for his belt like she’s claiming the prize she accidentally stole.
