Brenda stands by her suitcase in full flight-attendant navy, finishing the zipper. She glances at the ring box on the dresser, pops it open, and lets her fingers drag across the collection of wedding bands. They catch the light as she smiles to herself—cold, satisfied—then snaps the lid shut. Work calls. In a new city café she scans the room, spots a lonely guy with a ring on his finger, and gives him the once-over like she’s sizing up a mark. Perfect. She slides into his booth, all charm and easy smiles, says she’s new in town and needs the lay of the land. Her foot brushes his under the table, the flirty comments start stacking, and Harry tries to hold the line—he’s married, happy even.
