A Guest In Her Home

Brandi's done with her mom's bullshit. She got kicked out of school early and now she's stuck cooling her heels in Maureen's office until work's over. She picks at every weak spot she can find, and Maureen folds like a cheap chair every time. Then Ava walks in. One look at Brandi and the boss is already grinning and running her mouth, all flirty and bold, right in front of Maureen's desk. Brandi waits for her mom to shut it down, but Maureen just mumbles an introduction and looks at the floor. Ava's smile drops fast when she learns it's family drama in her office. She tells Maureen she's done, and the older woman starts groveling like her life depends on it. Brandi can't watch anymore. She jumps in, tries to take the heat, but Maureen sells her out before the words are cold—hands her daughter over for the weekend just to keep her job. Brandi stares, stunned, while Ava shrugs and says, "Works for me." The ride home is quiet, Brandi boiling in the passenger seat. She doesn't know it yet, but payback is coming, and Ava's going to help her deliver it.
